The installation of our climbing wall for Blackburn Youth Zone has been completed and it looks fantastic! The site is still in the construction phase so the wall is not open to the public just yet.

The wall is a combination of freeform, which boasts a vast choice of natural climbing features, and multifaceted plywood climbing surfaces, giving the user many different climbing styles to choose from.

Another feature of this wall is its Sentry Box, designed to accommodate a few users at a time including an instructor so that users can learn and practise their abseiling technique.

Hothersall Lodge - DR Climbing Walls

Hothersall Lodge

23rd November 2011

Two of our design team went to Hothersall Lodge today to add our name plate to the finished wall signalling an end to our latest project.

Initial talks between DR climbing Walls and Lancashire County council started over 1 year ago. Since then the design process involving architects, staff from the activity centre, Warden Construction and our specialist design team developed an ambitious vision into a reality.

The staff at Hothersall Lodge were keen to ensure this climbing wall catered for all and worked closely with DR Climbing walls to develop a caving system that would provide an opportunity for wheelchair users to go caving!

Other features incorporated in or design include a 45° abseil ramp also suitable for wheelchair users, a large slab section and a full height lead/top roping wall.
